Meanwhile you're pinging away in the air, dealing additional chipping damage with the Fireweaver, and drawing cards. So the thing I really like about vehicles in this deck is that they give you something to do with all your landbound creatures that would otherwise be sitting in a stalled board state: Whirler Rogue, Pia and Kiran, the Engineer, Fireweaver, even Chief of the Foundry. True, it was the bottom of the ladder, and I didn't come up against many of the new cards, but I still felt like this was tearing it up and had a ton of fun. Throw in some Bomat Courier for good measure and some lolz

Maybe fanatic makes Bonded Construct viable, and now the deck gets to run multiple 2+ expected power 1 drops, and has tons of early pressure (consistently attacks for 4 on t2). If we are trying to build the fastest possible creature/artifact deck, haste could matter a lot. One is an aggro card, the other totally isn't. But prototype and fanatic are not even remotely competing for positions in the same deck. As for Lupine prototype, I totally agree, I've been on the prototype ticket as possible crew for a while - simply because it can crew them all. What if I want to swing on t2 and then again on t3? Curve matters, so does speed. Thopter Engineer is only more synergistic if the vehicles are coming down t4 or later (he's not even in this discussion). I'd argue even Lupine Prototype is a better pilot than Fanatic because it doesn't die to half a Twin Bolt. If you want a 2-drop, there are plenty better 2-drops for an artifact deck, most of them actual artifacts. If you want to give creatures haste, Thopter Engineer covers all artifact creatures, not just vehicles, so it's obviously MORE synergistic with vehicles as well as other artifact creatures such as Chief of the Foundry. It enables no particular strategies other than "turn vehicles sideways" which is self-explanatory and as a pilot, it can only crew 2. It's a parasitic card that no one would pay any attention to if it didn't say "vehicle" in the rules text. It's not on my original list, but it is now (in my own head, and I'm not going back to edit my OP, as it's already in the thread). If you are saying look at scrounger instead, sure why not? It's been mentioned in this thread, I saw it, I posted my own response while it was being suggested. Now if we are suggesting Thopter Engineer is a replacement for a 2 drop, I'll disagree - because it isn't a 2 drop. If we are looking for 2 drops - it's an option. He certainly turns on some potential strategies without being an obviously bad card.

It really depends on the makeup of the deck - he's way more synergistic with vehicles - so unless we've written off vehicles entirely already, I'm not sure we can discount fanatic's viability or abilities. I only argued for fanatic - a 2/1 haste creature in an aggressive deck has 'could be good' written all over it. If you're running Black or using Aether Hub, can recur itself if you're desperate. Crews Skysovereign with one 2 mana body Name them, because that's what we've been trying to do.Ī few of us already mentioned Scrapheap Scrounger dude
